“I do what I do because I firmly believe people should be well-prepared to do their best, be fulfilled by what they do, and be able to enjoy a balanced work/non-work life.”
I have successfully coached more than 300 C-suiters, leaders and managers (four of whom were selected to FORTUNE Magazine’s Most Powerful Women in Business lists, and eight of whom went on to become CEOs); facilitated hundreds of group sessions and team meetings; designed, produced and delivered a wide array of training programs to thousands of participants; and authored “Succeeding In Your Sandbox: A Straightforward Guide to Doing The Right Things Right When You’re In Charge,” described as “The new work bible for people managers” by a FORTUNE 500 Global Head of Human Resources.
“We have used Michael several times to coach executives, develop leaders, build executive teams and resolve conflict. His expertise is so finely honed, and he works very well with everyone with whom he comes into contact. Michael sets objective goals in his consultative coaching, training and development engagements,
and he delivers what he promises.” (Managing Partner, Advertising)
I am a Master Corporate Executive Coach, certified by the Association of Corporate Executive Coaches, and hold additional certifications from The Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching® program, The Coaches Institute, the School of Coaching Mastery and The Gestalt International Study Center. I am a Fellow of Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital’s Institute of Coaching, a member of the Association for Talent Development, the Mentors Guild, the Professional Facilitators Network, Who’s Who in Finance & Industry, and Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals.
“Michael’s coaching not only improved my professional life but also my personal life. I realized the value of identifying what I’m really trying to gain or resolve, and as a result I am able to improve my focus, better prioritize how I allocate resources and am much better at active listening.” (CEO, Energy Services)
I also donate time to WeSpeak, an organization focused on providing a supportive environment for women across all industries to practice presentation skills and to build confidence through coaching and learning opportunities, and to The Honor Foundation where I coach US Special Warfare Operators as they transition into professional careers.
“Before Michael’s coaching I was hesitant to challenge the status quo, was much more inclined to figure everything out on my own and not inclined to facilitate my team’s involvement and engagement; after coaching I’m more confident, comfortable and motivated to do it differently, and it’s paid big dividends for me, my team and the organization.” (Global CHRO, Public Relations)
In my work experience, I have been an individual contributor, supervisor, manager, leader, advisor, coach, consultant, entrepreneur and intrapreneur, a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business and an adjunct professor at the Graduate School for Professional Studies at Manhattanville College.
I've earned degrees in psychology, industrial management and organizational behavior, and a diploma from Stanford University’s Advanced Management College. Additionally, I have obtained advanced certifications in organizational change and development from Harvard and Columbia Universities, and was recently named a recipient of the A. N. Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award.
And I otherwise enjoy spending time with my family, being an oenophile, traveling, reading fiction on the beach and training in the martial arts.
